VIRGIN MOBILE'S FULL COURT PRESS

Richard Branson's Virgin Mobile cell phone company may be pushing the boundaries of viral marketing. If one were to choose from among the cell phone carriers, in terms of employment, Virgin Mobile makes a great pitch.

Virgin Mobile has ventured into three unique campaigns that do not involve costly TV commercials. There's an earn your minutes campaign, launched in 2006, whereby a consumer may earn up to 75 minutes by spending the same amount of time reading and responding to commercial ads using text messaging.

Think: young people, time on their hands, love to get free stuff. Then there's a "kickback" program, refer your friends, get them to sign up with Virgin Mobile and take up to $230 off of your bill each year.

Think: social networks of young people. Which leads us to our last example, Myspace Jobs, a fledgling job board now has Virgin Mobile jobs posted. In this sense, Virgin Mobile has come at its consumer base, young people, with the very tools and environments that those same young people use and live in everyday.
