WHERE ARE THE BIODIESEL JOBS?

Looking for a job in Biodiesel? A couple of states may have jumped out in front insofar as friendly green competition goes. Iowa is boasting a much anticipated 200,000 square foot biodiesel plant, which will produce biodiesel made from Iowa soybeans. Iowa Senator Charles Grassley has been quoted as saying "It's [the massive new Cargill biodiesel plant] good for good-paying jobs in our small communities in the Midwest..." (see more at www.cargill.com).

American Biodiesel, a U.S. fuel company located in Washington state (www.wabiodiesel.com), is working on manufacturing biodiesel from sustainable, locally grown oilseed plants, like canola. Oilseed plants remove CO2 from the atmosphere and, through photosynthesis, convert the gas into the oil used to make biodiesel. Soon, in the rural town of Warden, Washington a biodiesel plant will go online. This biodiesel plant will manufacture biodiesel made from crushed canola seeds.

At Treehugger.com, a fast growing web magazine dedicated to modern environmental responsibility, you can read about research to convert algae into biodiesel. Their article indicates it may be the most efficient means of making biodiesel, since algae can produce 30 times more oil per acre than other crops.

If you're looking for a job in the exploding biodiesel market, take a look at some of these companies, or just Google biodiesel.

The National Biodiesel Board also has a very informative site at www.biodiesel.org.
