WIND TURBINES IN THE USA
It's not exactly a renewable resource, it's a nearly constant resource. It's the wind. Put 3 long blades on a spindle atop a rotating pivot tower. Have the spinning blades turn an advanced turbine. When the wind blows; you are making electricity. And you are making it cheaply. So cheaply, in fact, that with a few of these towers located strategically on the back "40" of your property, you could turn a profit by selling back the excess juice to your local utility. That is, if you lived in Canada. Right now, no such program yet exists in the United States. What does exist is a company called Airtricity which builds and maintains large-scale wind farms, some of which are located in the United States. Airticity has recently announced plans to build a supergrid, a network of 2,000 offshore wind turbines in the North Atlantic. This 7-year-old company makes its home office in Dublin, Ireland and claims to have already, since Jan 1. 2003, saved the atmosphere the equivalent of the green house gas emissions produced by nearly 1/2 million cars over a year's time... With, as mentioned, plans to do much more in the future. Re-capping the pros of wind: 70% cheaper than Solar, no emissions, and if you have wind you have power. Who doesn't have wind?
