Canadian Government Jobs

Finding new work in British Columbia is as daunting a task as ever, but strangely enough Canadian government job postings are on the rise. From Burnaby to Victoria jobs are being posted for a wide variety of Ministries, including the Ministry of Attorney General, Ministry of Transportation and most noteworthy, the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

BC government job postings are categorized regionally, under the headings of administrative support, permanent auxiliary and auxiliary. Auxiliary, or short term jobs, are open to the general public. These jobs have titles that the average citizen can relate to such as "Cook", "Security Officer" even "Chaplain". When one thinks of government jobs -one generally thinks of officials and bureaucrats. But there are now greater numbers of attainable government jobs outside of the "box".

For the future, renewed interest in Outdoor Recreation and Eco-tourism promises more job creation through the Ministry of Forests and Range as well as transitional jobs and internships for students. One excellent resource is the College of New Caledonia's web site.
