Job Description:
The incumbent of this position is a team member and/or Team Leader responsible for planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance activities of the SAP financial system for the USDA. The incumbent serves as a technical authority and ensures the reliability, availability, and serviceability of the SAP financial system for the USDA.
As an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN), you will be responsible for the following:
 Providing technical administration of SAP landscapes that include BASIS support, installation, configuration, upgrades, performance tuning and monitoring;
Performing troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues in the landscapes;
Researching and installing Enhancement packages and SAP delivered business content for SAP applications;
Conducting capacity planning activities to track and control database growth;
Configuring early watch/service level reports and monitoring alerts using Solution Manager;
Assisting in creating the roadmap and strategy for SAP solutions and the key components;
Assisting in planning and designing the architecture of SAP systems;
Maintaining multi-landscape environments through client copies, system refreshes, and transport management;
Conducting analysis of system performance, database performance, system health checks, and implementation of tuning improvements;
Evaluating and applying SAP kernel patches and support packs;
Performing system upgrades;
Developing landscape strategies and batch scheduling;
Developing procedures and guidelines related to modifying, upgrading, and applying patches to SAP related systems and components;
Developing best practices, project plans, and documentation for the installation, upgrade, monitoring, and administration of application software environments and other added applications (bolt-ons);
Conducting backup, recovery, configuration, upgrade, and monitoring of Oracle databases in the SAP landscapes; and
Designing, builds, tests, delivers and maintains the SAP Process Integration (PI) technology and initiatives.
