General Position Summary: Agency Sales
Representative
JOB SUMMARY: Builds and maintains a
profitable growing portfolio by selling insurance
products and providing related services to
members of the community in which the agency is
located.
RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Agent or Agency Sales
Manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares and presents accurate quotes and
recommends coverage based on customer needs.
2. Determines and enters rating information into
system; provides quote to customer and binds
coverage.
3. Completes necessary application information,
obtains necessary documentation and receives
payment and applies money to policy in order to
close the sale.
4. Responsible for achieving weekly and monthly
sales targets and annual market share objectives
within the target market, including new business
and the retention of present business.
5. Develops relationship with community served in
order to promote assigned products.
6. Monitors customer preferences and trends while
reporting useful data back to the sales
management.
7. Responsible for learning all aspects of the
position within a specified period of time.
Motivates fellow staff members to attain
individual and agency objectives.
8. Provides customer service to policyholders by
communicating with internal/external personnel
regarding problem situations.
9. Agrees to become insurance licensed upon hire
and will conduct self with extreme integrity,
honesty and courtesy. Agrees to maintain valid
license status by completing required CE courses
as needed and notifying management of license
renewal requirements.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma required, A.A.
degree preferred, however some college may
qualify right candidate.
Licenses/Designations: Representatives must
already have or agree to obtain the required
state licenses within the time period designated
by the business unit. Additional licenses may be
required when new products and services are
implemented. If a representative fails or is
unable to obtain required licenses within the
time period designated by the business unit, the
representative will be ineligible to continue in
the position.
Experience: Two years previous professional
experience in sales, customer service,
underwriting or claims.
Knowledge: Agency will send appropriate candidate
to appropriate schools to learn required
knowledge of property casualty insurance
products, business management concepts,
sales/marketing approaches, and trends. Strong
emphasis is made on the candidate continuing this
education by way of learning from the agent,
additional schools, and/or licensing.
Skills: Possesses strong verbal and interpersonal
skills to communicate information to customers
and potential customers and advise them of areas
where financial protection may be needed or
enhanced. Candidate must be confident when
speaking to potential and current clients.
Candidate must be a motivated seller who prides
him/herself on meeting and exceeding individual
and agency goals.
Values: Regularly and consistently demonstrates
responsible and ethical values and behaviors both
personally and professionally.
Staffing Exceptions to the above minimum job
requirements must be approved by the: Sales
Manager, and HR Consultant.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Overtime Eligibility: none
Working Conditions: Normal executive office
environment. Some initial travel for education
will be necessary as assigned. Incumbents may be
required to operate an automobile and have a
valid driver's license with a safe driving
record.
